Easter!

I just told a co-worker that I had nothing new to wear for Easter, or a meeting I was going to in the morning. You know, same ole thing ~ didn't like anything, nothing looks right on this flab, haven't had the time to go shopping, etc., etc.

Then I read Bigmama's post today and was humbled. She is soooo right.

We had a Maundy Thursday service at church last night and it was one of the most meaningful ones I've been to in a while. We were handed a nail as we walked in the sanctuary and as we proceeded to the front to take communion, the pastors touched our foreheads, lips and palms with water to remind us we needed to cleanse ourselves of the sins of our minds, speech and actions. Several of us were in tears as our pastor talked about what the nail represented and how important it was for us to remember what Jesus did the day before his Crucifixion and what his death on the cross means to all of us.

As Bigmama said in her post ~ our Easter "dress" should not be the emphasis.

"So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way"
Colossians 3:12-16 The Message
